Snow Storm MVA
2-25-10 @ 12:46 - Susquehanna Fire and Ambulance dispatched for a 1 car motor vehicle accident on Brushville Road,
Oakland Township. Vehicle was reported to be off to the side of the road, heavy damage, unknown occupancy. First officers
arriving on scene reported no occupants that the vehicle appeared to be there for quite some time. Comm Center also reported
that they received a call from another fire dept reporting the vehicle was there throughout the night. All units were canceled.
Pick-up Truck on it's Side
3-11-10 @ 14:46 - Susquehanna Fire and Ambulance personnel along with Medic301 from Barnes Kasson were dispatched for
a 1 car motor vehicle accident on Brushville Road, Oakland Twp. A pick up truck was on it's side in a ditch near the East Lake
Road. Vehicle had 3 occupants, all uninjured. Ambulance crew obtained patient refusals and fire department personnel
remained to secure the scene until towing service and state police arrived.
Possible Structure Fire
3-7-10 @ 17:16 - Susquehanna is tapped out to respond to a possible structure fire on Willow Ave, Susquehanna
Borough. Dispatch states the caller has a burning smell in the residence but does not see smoke or flame. Units get on
scene and investigate, nothing was found.
Landing Zone Request
3-7-10 @ 7:29 - Susquehanna Fire and Ambulance dispatched to set up a landing zone at Susquehanna Schools for incoming
Life flight 3 doing an inter-facility transport out of Barnes Kasson Hospital.
Structure Fire in Thompson Borough
3-3-10 @ 1:01 - Susquehanna Fire and Ambulance personnel dispatched to assist Thompson Hose Company, reported
structure fire on Main Street, Thompson. First arriving reporting fully involved house fire, no entrapment. Susquehanna
Engine 1, Engine 2, and Ambulance 2 responded. No one was injured in this fire. The residents of the home were assisted by
family and the American Red Cross of Susquehanna County.
Assist to Thompson - Chimney Fire
3-2-10 @ 22:00 - Susquehanna was dispatched automatic mutual aid to Thompson Hose Company for a reported Chimney
Fire - Campsite Road, Thompson Twp. Thompson 11 requesting Engine and Tanker out of Susquehanna to respond due to
another call in their coverage area. Susquehanna Engine 1, Engine 2, and Ambulance 2 responded to the assist. Fire was put
out and all units returned to service.
Electrical Fire tap-out
3-1-10 @ 22:04 - Susquehanna Fire dispatched for a possible electrical fire in an apartment building on Grand Street,
Susquehanna Borough. Engine 3 responded with the thermal camera to inspect the residence. Nothing was found.
Brush Fire
4-5-10 @ 15:55 - Susquehanna Fire Department was dispatched for their Brush Truck and RTV to respond to Gelatt Rd, Gibson
Twp to assist Thompson Hose Company on a brush fire. Units quickly got fire under control and continued in Susquehanna's
response at a reduced rate. Total amount burned was roughly 2 acres.
Landing Zones
Susquehanna Fire and EMS are dispatched when a helicopter transport is needed out of Barnes Kasson Hospital. The landing
zones are set up at the helo pad built by Susquehanna Fire Department on Susquehanna Community School grounds. LZ's
were set up on 3-22 @ 07:16, 4-2 @ 19:57, 4-4 @ 17:10.
Wires & Trees
4-2-10 @ 16:50 - Susquehanna Fire Department was dispatched to a home on Erie Ave, Susquehanna Borough for a tree down
on a residence, tree had pulled down the power lines. Susquehanna 13 was the first unit on scene. He requested all apparatus
hold at station, nothing could be done on scene by the fire department. Susquehanna 13 remained on scene with the home
owner until Penelec arrived on scene.
New Milford hammered with calls, Susquehanna asked to help out
3-26-10 @ 14:36 - New Milford Fire dispatched to another call within their coverage area, MVA reported possibly 2 industrial
trucks involved on SR 492 just into Jackson Twp. Susquehanna Rescue was dispatched to respond. Units on scene reporting
it's 1 industrial pick up truck into a pole, no entrapment, minor injuries. Susquehanna Rescue was canceled enroute by New
Milford command.
Motorcycle Fire
3-25-10 @ 18:18 - Susquehanna Police Department requests for Susquehanna Fire to respond to Prospect Street, Susquehanna
Borough for a motorcycle that was on fire, believes the fire is out. Susquehanna E-1 and Susquehanna 11 respond. Units
on-scene to find cycle already out. A quick evaluation done by crew to make sure everything was fully out and apparatus
returned to quarters.
Search for Missing Juveniles
3-21-10 @ 00:51 Susquehanna Fire and Ambulance dispatched to assist state police and local police in attempting to locate
several juveniles believed to be intoxicated down by the river bed in Oakland Twp. Susquehanna A-1, RT1, Susquehanna 11,
and 12 responded. 2 juveniles were found down by the river and transported to Barnes-Kasson Hospital for evaluation.
Public Service Detail
3-20-10 @ 10:24 Susquehanna Engine 2 responds with a crew to Main Street Susquehanna Borough to assist with crews
tearing down an old & dilapidated building near the corner of Main and Erie Ave. Crews remained on scene for several hours.
Barnes Kasson Fire Alarm
3-19-10 @ 12:43 - Susquehanna Fire and Ambulance dispatched for an automated fire alarm at Barnes Kasson Hospital in
Susquehanna Borough. Within moments of dispatch, County canceled all units stating that Barnes Kasson was working on
their alarms.
Brush Fire
3-18-10 @ 14:55 - Susquehanna Fire Dept is dispatched for a brush fire on Germantown Rd, Harmony Twp. Susquehanna 13
first unit on scene reporting small fire, requesting Susquehanna Engine 1 to respond. Fire was put out and all units returned
to service within 25 minutes.
Brush Fire
4-10-10 @ 19:34 - Susquehanna is dispatched for a brush fire on the Brushville Road just outside of Susquehanna Borough.
Susquehanna 15 first on scene reporting it to be at the junk yard, the access road locked. After gaining access, Susquehanna
15 reported that there was an area of about 20x40 burning with garbage and debris involved. Fire was quickly extinguished
by crews aboard Susquehanna Brush1 and Engine 1.
Barn Fire
4-20-10 @ 10:23 Susquehanna Fire and Ambulance personnel
are dispatched for a fully involved barn fire on SR 171, Harmony
Twp. Susquehanna 13 acknowledged the call and requested first
box mutual aid bringing in Hallstead, Great Bend, New Milford,
and Thompson, along with Great Bend/Hallstead Ambulance for
the assist.
No one was injured and most of the animals were recovered from
the barn by the home owners.
Car over the bank
4-21-10 @ 00:39 Susquehanna Fire and Ambulance along with Barnes-Kasson ALS were dispatched to a 1 car motor vehicle
accident on Euclid Ave, Susquehanna Borough. First unit on scene reported 1 patient entrapped in the vehicle over the wall
between Franklin Ave and Euclid Ave (roughly 10 ft). Rescue truck was the arriving apparatus and crews worked quickly to
stabilize the vehicle. Patient was promptly removed and turned over to Susquehanna EMS and BK ALS for transport to
Wilson Hospital. Vehicle was removed from the scene by French's Auto.


MVA between Susquehanna and Forest City
4-23-10 @ 1:25 - Dispatched to a 1 car motor vehicle accident on SR 171, believed to be in Harmony Twp. Upon arrival on
scene, units found vehicle along side of the road, on all four tires, the tree line. Driver confined in the vehicle due to damage
sustained in what appeared to be a roll over. Patient was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Barnes Kasson
Hospital by Susquehanna Ambulance for further evaluation.

Standby Water Rescue
4-28-10 @ 18:07 Susquehanna Water Rescue personnel dispatched to stand by at Susquehanna Station for Hallstead Water
Rescue while they operate on a rescue off of Harmony Road, Great Bend Twp. Station 7 successfully retrieved the victim off
the island and returned the individual to shore and turned him over to Great Bend Hallstead EMS. Susquehanna Water
Rescue personnel were stood down by command & returned to service without deployment.
Vehicle Fire
5-20-10 @ 16:58 -- Susquehanna Fire was dispatched to a lawn mower fire on Spring Creek Ave, Oakland Borough. Dispatch
stated that the fire was spreading to the woods by the residence. Fire was quickly extinguished and all units returned to
service within a few minutes.
Wind Storm keeps Susquehanna Fire Busy
5-08-10 - Trees and wires down throughout Susquehanna's coverage area kept Susquehanna busy throughout the evening.
State Street, Oakland Borough; Viaduct Street, Lanesboro; Front Street, Susquehanna Borough; Stevens Point Rd, Harmony
Twp.; North Main Street, Lanesboro; Harmony Road, Oakland Twp. were those reported.
Brush Fire
4-29-10 @ 19:29 - Susquehanna Fire dispatched for a Brush Fire on Turnpike Street, Oakland Twp. Susquehanna E-1 and
Brush Truck responded.
TODD GLOVER SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES HEAVY VEHICLE RESCUE OPS
Todd attended Heavy Vehicle Rescue Ops in Clifford, at Station 18. The department hosted a 16hr Heavy Vehicle Rescue Ops
program May 10, 12, and 15th. This program was sponsored by Bucks County Community College and the Susquehanna
County Fireman’s Association. Students spent eight hours in the class room learning the anatomy of big rigs and the
challenges they present. On Saturday the 15th, students spent the day walking through different types of vehicles,
stabilization, gaining access, and lifting operations. With adequate resources to work on, the program allowed the students to
gain priceless practical experience while realizing the need for multiple companies and heavy wreckers.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JORDAN BOERNER
Jordan achieved the highest honor in Scouting Friday, May 21st at the Susquehanna Fire Station when he was awarded his
Eagle Scout Badge. Jordan belongs to Troop 81 and is also a Member of the Susquehanna Fire Department. Jordan received
Citations from House of Representatives Of Pennsylvania Sandra Major,and the Marine Corps League of PA. Jordan also received
letters from President Obama,V.P. Joseph Biden,Governor Ed Rendell,Pope Benedict XVI,Al Gore, John Deere Corp,Moose
International,William Lane,and also from The Office of the State Fire Commissioner of PA Ed Mann.
Jordan's mentors were Chris Herbert,Sharon Glover, Todd Glover, all SFD members, and Rich Cottrell Scout Leader. For
Jordan's Eagle Scout project he headed up the building and construction of a mock roof with safety for ladder and ventilation
training. Jordan has completed his Nation Fire Fighter Training and will be testing soon. Jordan also Has National Hazmat Ops
and Flammable liquids. Jordan plans to pursue a profession in Firefighting.
